Elaine Ann Assad, 72, of Ottumwa died at 6:32 a.m. March 8, 2025 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born April 1, 1952 in Ottumwa to Raymond and Mary Lou Dowd Black. She married Akram Assad on August 20, 1980.
Elaine was a 1978 graduate of Indian Hills Community College Nursing School and a 1997 graduate of Clarkson College where she received her Nurse Practitioner license.
She worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center as a Nurse Practitioner.
She loved building doll houses, writing and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband, Akram of Ottumwa; her children, Abraham Assad of Iowa City and Lisa Johnston of Alabama; 3 grandchildren, Spencer Wiseman, Maddison (Jake) Manley and Lucas Conrad; 3 great grandchildren, Barrett Manley, Khloe Manley and Huxton Manley; a sister, Sue (Dan) Keasling of Ottumwa; and 2 nephews, Dallas Black and Tyler Keasling.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lynda Black.
Her body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
