George Lee Brown, 69, of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away on November 3, 2026, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. He was born on March 13, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Thomas Oren and Edna Jean England Brown. On August 27, 1977, he married Tina Marie Jessop. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2021.
George worked for Heckart and Sons Excavating for many years before going to work at Skyline Ready Mix where he remained until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, deer hunting, and shooting trap. He was comfortable in the country and always enjoyed going on long country drives. Most of all, George loved spending time with his family. He missed Tina greatly after her passing. His smile and laughter will be forever remembered by his family and friends.
He is survived by two children, Jeremy (Alicia Aubrey) Brown of Ottumwa, Iowa, Elizabeth (Ed) Altheide of Bloomfield, Iowa; four grandchildren, Corwin Williams, Alexis Long, Jason Long Jr., Cheyenne (Dennis) Lippincott; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Dennis, and River; and a sister, Therese Brown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, William Edward “Eddie” Brown; brother, Willie Brown; and three sisters, Peggy Sue Brown, Elizabeth Brown, and Rose Foster.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026, at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Dunnville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
