ent Walther Jr., age 93, of Seymour, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at Centerville Specialty Care.
Kent was born on November 1, 1933, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Kent C. Walther Sr. and Helen (Conoyer) Walther. The family lived in various places throughout South Dakota, returning to Omaha, where he graduated from Technical High School with the Class of 1951.
Following graduation, Kent joined the United States Marine Corps on July 25, 1953. His military service reflected his willingness to answer the call to serve, and he received the National Defense Service Medal in recognition of his service. Although his time in the Marines was not a huge part of his life’s journey, it was his contribution to the nation he proudly served. He was honorably discharged on July 24, 1955.
On April 14, 1957, Kent was united in marriage to Carol Jones. Together, they shared many years of marriage and built a life filled with memories.
Kent spent much of his professional life working as a telephone splicer, a job that required technical knowledge, patience, and attention to detail. He worked for Northwestern Bell and GTE. He also took on independent contracting work throughout his career.
Kent leaves behind his sister, along with nieces and nephews, who will remember him and carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, and his parents, Kent C. Walther Sr. and Helen Walther.
