Ronald McDonald, 78, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on November 2, 2026.
Ronald was born on September 18, 1948. He grew up in Oskaloosa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1966.
Ron bravely served his country in the United States Navy. While in the service, Ron served overseas, completing two tours in Vietnam.
Throughout his life, Ronald enjoyed keeping busy and exploring his many interests. He had a creative side and found enjoyment in woodworking, stained glass, pottery, and macramé. He also loved to cook and took pleasure in creating things with his hands. Whether working on a project in his workshop or preparing something in the kitchen, Ronald enjoyed the satisfaction of making something of his own.
Much of Ronald’s working life was spent behind the wheel of a semi-truck, traveling the roads as a truck driver. Over the years, he also worked in transportation, helping people move, and spent time working for a finance company. While living in California, he owned and operated a landscaping business with his best friend, John Crawford. His working years brought him many different experiences and opportunities along the way.
Above all, Ronald will be remembered by those who knew him for his many talents, his love of creating, and the life he built through his years of hard work and varied experiences.
Ronald’s surviving family includes his son, Ryan McDonald, grandsons Chad McDonald Playle and Joseph McDonald, and his siblings, Carol Wineland, Karen (Cookie) Farmer Mathes, Jerry McDonald, and James Cadwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary McDonald; his daughter, Rhonda McDonald; his siblings, Donna McDonald and Roger Spratt; and his close uncle, Sam Spratt.
Ronald’s memory will live on through the family and friends whose lives he touched throughout his journey.
As was his wish, his body has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
Langkamp Funeral Chapel and Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.
