An Ottumwa man allegedly attacked a member of his residence and damaged a vehicle.
30-year-old McMillan Route was charged with criminal mischief 3rd degree – damage $750-$1,500 and domestic abuse assault resident household member.
On July 20, court records say Route was yelling and acting disorderly to neighbors and residents of the house. According to authorities, the victim was telling Route to stop while Route charged at him and the individual tackled Route to stop the assault. The victim sustained injuries to his elbows and said Route’s actions were offensive and painful.
Official personnel say Route threw a rock at the rear of the individual’s vehicle which caused a large dent. The vehicle resulted in $750 – $1,000 in damage.
According to court records, Route and the individual live together at the residence.
Route was taken to the Wapello County Jail.
