A Bloomfield woman faces charges after admitting to possessing drugs during a traffic stop for a prior conviction.
20-year-old Shalayla Sickels was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance 3rd offense, failure to affix drug tax stamp – over seven grams, intent to deliver methamphetamine over five grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On July 20, court records say Sickels was stopped by police for a separate offense. Officers Sickels admitted to possessing marijuana cigarillo and handed it to police. Authorities conducted a search in the vehicle and located marijuana flower, marijuana wax, and a cartridge of THC concentrate.
Authorities say the search continued in Sickels vehicle and they located 14.9 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 62.2 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and several empty baggies, and pipes used for injection.
According to court records, Sickels has previous drug convictions dating December 2022 and June 2024.
Sickels was transported to the Wapello County Jail. She has a preliminary hearing on July 30 and a $25,000 bond.
