An intoxicated Ottumwa man allegedly drove while revoked.
37-year-old Wansa Walter was charged with drunk drive revocation and OWI – 3rd or subsequent offense.
On July 19 at 11:44 p.m, court records say Walter was driving a vehicle on South Sheridan Avenue. Officers observed Walter to have watery blood shot eyes, an odor of alcohol, and unsteady balance. Officers say Walter admitted that he was previously drinking an alcoholic beverage.
Authorities say Walter consented to a Standardized Field Sobriety Test which showed his impairment. Walters refused to take a Preliminary Breath Test and a datamaster breath test.
According to court records, Walters has prior OWI convictions and both were dated on May 13, 2024.
Court records say Walters is revoked from driving from March 2024 through March 2026.
Walters was taken to the Wapello County Jail. He has a preliminary hearing on July 29.
