A What Cheer man is facing a misdemeanor charge after allegedly assaulting his partner at a What Cheer residence in June.

Christopher Long, 37, has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault — Second Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. The alleged incident occurred on June 9th at approximately 10:30 p.m. and the warrant was served on August 5th.

According to court documents, Long and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation when Long allegedly grabbed the victim by her arms and threw her across the kitchen, causing her to fall to the ground. The victim sustained a bruise to her left arm as a result.

Court documents indicate Long has a prior conviction for Domestic Abuse Assault in Polk County, Iowa, dating back to April 24th, 2019.

Long is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 14th. A no contact order was requested in the case, though a motion was recently filed on August 10th to cancel it.
