A Pella woman is facing charges after authorities say she placed a GPS tracking device inside another person’s vehicle without permission.

According to a criminal complaint, the investigation stems from incidents alleged to have occurred between March 24, 2025, and April 24, 2026. The Pella Police Department later questioned 31-year-old Hannah Robbins regarding the device.

Court documents state Robbins intentionally placed a GPS tracking device inside the glove box of the victim’s vehicle without consent. Authorities say Robbins admitted to placing the device because she wanted to know where their child was located, did not trust the victim, and feared for her children’s safety.

Documents further state Robbins told investigators the victim did not sign the child’s birth certificate. She also claimed the GPS device had not been used in more than a year, no longer worked, and that she had deleted the associated mobile application.

According to court records, the victim became aware of the device after receiving a notification on his phone. The victim reportedly removed the GPS tracker from the glove box approximately one year ago.

Robbins was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail before later being released on her own recognizance.

A no-contact order was issued on April 29. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for May 8.

Robbins has been charged with unauthorized placement of a global positioning device, a serious misdemeanor under Iowa law.
