Authorities were notified of a possible violation of a court-ordered no-contact order involving communication made from inside a county jail.
On April 23rd at approximately 6:18 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was notified of a violation of a no-contact order.
According to the criminal complaint, Darrin Hill, 59, of Ottumwa, is currently subject to a valid no-contact order in which the victim is listed as the protected party. Court documents indicate Hill was ordered to have no contact with the victim under the terms of that order.
Investigators allege that Hill used the Wapello County Jail phone system to send a text message to the victim, in violation of the court order.
Hill has been held in the Wapello County Jail since April 14th on seven counts of sexual abuse, a Class B felony. He is now additionally charged with contempt of court for violating a no-contact/protective order.
A new no-contact order was issued on April 24th.
