Newton Man Faces 11 Felonies for Alleged Child Sexual Exploitation

A Newton man is out of jail after posting bond following his arrest on 11 felony charges tied to the alleged possession and sharing of child sexual abuse material.

Dillon Lee Van Manen, 28, faces ten counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor — Promote Film, each a Class C Felony, and one count of Purchase or Possession of a Depiction of a Minor in a Sex Act, First Offense, a Class D Felony.

Van Manen was taken into custody on July 21st on a warrant issued by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Investigators allege he used a mobile messaging application to share sexually explicit videos of minors on February 23rd and March 6th and 7th of 2025, and that eight image files of child sexual abuse material were recovered from his phone. He was released Monday, August 10th after posting a $105,000 unsecured bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 28th.
