Ottumwa will welcome its newly elected leaders tonight, as Mayor-elect Benjamin Foote and City Councilmembers-elect Cara Galloway, Dan Reid, and JoElla Duprey are set to be sworn in on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The ceremony will take place in Council Chambers at 5:00 p.m., just ahead of the regular City Council meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. While the oath of office will be administered, the new officials will officially assume their roles on January 2, 2026.
Later in the month, the community will have an opportunity to honor the outgoing officials. A send-off for Mayor Rick Johnson and Councilmember Doug McAntire is planned for Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend and show appreciation for the years of dedicated service these leaders have provided to the city.
