Ottumwa Art Club Reveals 2024 Winner

Indian Hills Community College sophomore, Erin Eddy, is the 2024 recipient of the Ottumwa Art Club’s annual award. The $300 award for her acrylic painting, “Sarah’s Fish,”  is given annually to an art student who enters the IHCC student art show and demonstrates skill in their chosen area of emphasis, including drawing, painting, ceramics, graphic design, photography, and digital illustration.

Eddy is a Fairfield High School graduate who began painting in middle school when she decided she wanted to be a painter. “I spent a lot of time in high school making art and developing an eye for art,” she said. Her art includes traditional painting, digital painting, and block printing. “Sarah’s Fish” was inspired by a photograph taken of a friend’s catch of the day.

An English major, she plans to take a year off to pursue art as a career. Her art will be for sale at area art shows this summer.

The Ottumwa Art Club was founded in 1906 for Ottumwa women interested in learning about art. There are 20 members who meet six times each year.
