A man is in custody after Ottumwa police say he strangled his wife on Saturday.
Kambongo Adeito, 35, was charged with willful injury and domestic abuse assault – impending air/blood flow causing bodily injury. Both offenses are Class D felonies.
Court records say Adeito and his wife were arguing in their apartment on Bonita Avenue at approximately 6:50 PM. Adeito allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and squeezed, impeding her breathing and causing her pain. The couple have a minor child together.
Adeito was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He is being held on a $10,000 bond and has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
Adeito has a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 3rd.
