Martha Archer, 98, of Ottumwa, died at 11:43 a.m. October 25, 2023 at Ridgewood Specialty Care.
She was born November 14, 1924 to Chester and Alice Mills Glattfelder. Martha married Fred D. Archer on April 28, 1960 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1999.
A 1943 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Martha worked 30 years at John Morrell & Co. in the stock records department. She then worked 6 years for the Ottumwa Credit Bureau and then worked 15 years in the Wapello County Clerk’s office, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. Martha was also a member of AARP and had been a member of Ottumwa Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving is a nephew, Bruce J. Glattfelder and two nieces, Candace Glattfelder and Dianna Witkowski.
She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Rex. W. and Icel Glattfelder and nephew, Rex C. Glattfelder.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, November 6th at Reece Funeral Home.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 7th at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Gary Brooks officiating.
