Two family-owned funeral homes with longtime ties to the Pella community are coming together.
Garden Chapel Funeral Home has merged with Van Dyk Duven Funeral Home, bringing the two family-owned businesses together while continuing their commitment to providing personal and compassionate service to local families.
The partnership combines years of experience, community relationships and a shared dedication to helping families during some of life’s most difficult moments.
For Garden Chapel owner and funeral director Mark Van Roekel, the partnership has a personal connection. When Mark was younger, his own family experienced the loss of his grandparents and received care from Roger Duven and Justin Hillman.
Mark said he remembers the compassion and care his family received during that difficult time. That experience stayed with him and later influenced the way he wanted to serve families through Garden Chapel.
Today, Van Roekel will continue serving families as the owner and funeral director of Garden Chapel Van Dyk Duven Funeral Homes.
Roger Duven will remain involved and available to assist families during services, along with Mark Van Rees. Justin and Leah Hillman will be stepping back from their day-to-day roles.
Jennafer Uitermarkt Rozendaal will continue working with families as a funeral director, as well as assisting with monument design and memorialization.
For families interested in pre-planning and pre-arranging funeral services, Auburn Van Kooten will continue meeting with families by appointment.
The Main Street location will remain available for funeral and celebration-of-life services. The Duven facility will undergo renovations and will be used for receptions and celebrations.
While the two businesses are coming together, families can expect many familiar faces and the personal relationships they have come to value.
