Ottumwa Police and Fire Departments Report September Activity

The City of Ottumwa is reporting public safety activity handled by the Ottumwa Police and Fire Departments during the month of September.

The Ottumwa Police Department recorded 2,509 total call entries during September. Officers made 420 traffic stops and served 53 warrants.

Police also responded to 124 animal-related calls, 68 theft calls, 30 requests to assist other agencies, 28 motorist assists, and 23 citizen assists.

The Ottumwa Fire Department recorded 372 total call entries during the month. Of those, 276 were medical calls, including 24 lift assists. Firefighters also responded to 55 fire-related calls, which included 29 fire investigations.

Ottumwa’s Dispatch team processed more than 2,800 call entries during September.

The City says the numbers represent the wide range of situations handled by local first responders each month. Police officers, firefighters and dispatchers remain available around the clock to respond to emergencies, provide assistance and help keep the community safe.
