As colder weather approaches, the Bloomfield Iowa Police Department is helping local families keep their children warm this winter.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers recently sorted through clothing from last year’s Davis County Community Schools Elementary School Lost and Found. Rather than letting the clothing go unused, the department washed, sorted and labeled the items and is making them available to local families who may need them.
Families can stop by the Bloomfield Police Department lobby and take what they need. No paperwork, names or questions are required.
The lobby is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If a family needs to visit after those hours, dispatch can assist with access to the lobby.
Available clothing includes:
- Shirts and sweatshirts
- Pants
- Jackets
- Other various clothing items
- Stocking caps
The clothing is available in Youth Small through Youth XL, along with a limited number of adult sizes. The department reports that there are also plenty of stocking caps available.
Families who could use the clothing are encouraged to stop by and take what they need.
The Bloomfield Police Department says the effort is part of helping care for local families as temperatures begin to fall.
