A fifth person has been charged in connection with the August 11th armed robbery at the Kwik Star in Oskaloosa, according to an update from the Oskaloosa Police Department.
Antonio Suava Victor Hernandez, 28, of Des Moines, was arrested on September 4th and charged with Robbery in the First Degree, a Class B Felony. His arrest brings the total number of individuals charged in connection with the investigation to five. His specific role in the robbery was not provided in the press release.
As Ottumwa Radio previously reported, three individuals entered the Kwik Star at 1510 A Avenue West at approximately 10:58 a.m. on August 11th with their faces concealed. At least one displayed what appeared to be a firearm. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the area before crashing their vehicle near Ford Avenue and Highway 92, prompting a large-scale law enforcement response. No injuries were reported during the robbery.
The four previously charged individuals are Cory Hale, 26, of Des Moines, charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Theft in the First Degree; Donavon Surrette, 24, of Des Moines, charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Theft in the First Degree; Eugene Hale, 19, of Des Moines, charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Theft in the First Degree; and Kayla Rupp, 28, of Des Moines, charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Possession of Marijuana.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the Oskaloosa Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation continuing to work together on the case.
