The public is invited to attend the rededication ceremony for the Veterans’ Memorial Display featuring the F-86 Sabre at the Iowa City Municipal Airport on Sunday, November 8.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the airport entrance. The event is being shared on behalf of the Save the Sabre Foundation, which has worked to preserve and maintain the historic aircraft as a tribute to veterans.
The display has recently received new markings from the Iowa Air National Guard, along with newly installed lighting at the flagpoles, giving the memorial a refreshed appearance.
Community members are encouraged to attend and help celebrate the restoration and continued preservation of this important veterans’ memorial.
Chairs will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. The airport requests that vehicles use funeral-style parking along the driveway. Those who are able to walk are encouraged to use the available parking near the terminal.
The Save the Sabre Foundation also thanks everyone whose donations have helped make the improvements possible. Fundraising continues for the organization’s established Endowment Fund, which supports ongoing maintenance and improvements to the memorial area.
Donations can be made by check or cash through either of the following options:
