AUDIO: Clayton Stufflebeam – Beck’s Hybrids
A practical farm research agronomist with Beck’s Hybrids says the company is altering its guidelines for products or practices to earn the PFR Proven label.
Clayton Stufflebeam tells Brownfield, “We take a product or a practice, and we’ll test it on multiple locations for at least three years. Going forward, it must return a $5 return on investment to be PFR Proven. It used to be just provide a return on investment, but now it’s $5 or more.”
He says the move is aimed at helping farmers identify ways to improve the bottom line in a tight ag economy.
“It’s narrowing down that pool.” He says, “We just had so many products over time, and we thought with the economic environment we’re in today, we needed to do something different. But it’s really important to not spend money unless we know that’s going to provide a return on investment.”
Stufflebeam says the new requirements go into effect with the 2026 Beck’s Practical Farm Research Book, which will be released later this year.
