Drivers are being asked to avoid part of the Wapello Street Extension as emergency work continues near the Greater Ottumwa Park campgrounds.
According to the City of Ottumwa, crews are currently working on the west side of the extension. One lane of traffic remains open, but traffic conditions could change without notice as work continues.
Motorists who normally travel through the area should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route until the work is completed.
There is currently no estimated time for when the emergency work will be finished or when normal traffic will resume.
The City of Ottumwa says an update will be provided once the roadway returns to normal traffic conditions.
