One person died in a house fire in southeast Iowa on Monday night, according to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says it received a report of a fire at approximately 8:47 PM on the 4000 block of 63rd Avenue in Eldon. The identity of the deceased was withheld pending notification of family members. The fire lasted for several hours and involved multiple fire departments from Eldon, Agency, Batavia, Ottumwa, and Wapello County.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
