Emergency Responders Rescue Person from Submerged Vehicle

An individual was transported to a hospital in Des Moines after a rescue from a truck in a pond in Appanoose County, according to officials.

Centerville Fire and Rescue says it received a page on Thursday for a truck then went off the roadway 500 feet and entered a pond. A person was trapped in the vehicle.

After fire crews used extraction equipment to remove the individual from the water, they immediately administered CPR.

Officials say crews continued life-saving measures until the patient transported via helicopter to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. The patient’s current staus is unknown.

Appanoose County Sheriff’s Department, Centerville Police Department, Mystic Fire Department, Centerville Fire Department, Centerville Fire Rescue, and MercyOne assisted in the rescue.
