South Iowa Economic Development Association (SIEDA) is announcing changes to the application process for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in Wapello County.
Beginning November 1, 2026, Wapello County residents applying for energy assistance will have three options for submitting their applications. The changes are intended to streamline the process and make services more convenient for area residents.
Under the new procedures, the SIEDA Wapello County office will accept applications through the following methods:
- In-person appointments: Residents can meet face-to-face with a staff member at the office to complete their application paperwork.
- Phone appointments: Applicants can speak directly with a staff member and complete the application over the phone.
- Online applications: Residents can submit their applications online at any time through SIEDA’s website.
Residents who prefer to schedule an appointment can contact the Wapello County SIEDA office at 641-682-8741 to arrange either a phone or in-person appointment.
Online applications are available at Sieda.org.
SIEDA says the updated process is designed to make applying for energy assistance faster and more convenient while continuing to help eligible households with their home energy costs.
