A traffic stop led to the arrest of an Ottumwa woman earlier this week.
Terri Haines, 33, was charged with a controlled substance violation (Class B felony), used or expired drug tax stamp (Class D felony), possession of a controlled substance – first offense (serious misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).
On April 14th at approximately 9:00 PM, court records say the Ottumwa Police Department pulled over a car on South Birch Street due to a damaged rear window. A K-9 unit was deployed and it indicated the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle, according to authorities.
Court documents allege Haines was in the passenger seat in the vehicle and after a probable cause search, police found three baggies of methamphetamine weighing eight grams in total and two glass pipes with residue.
Haines was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. She is being held on a $25,000 bond.
Haines has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 24th.
