Chili lovers and backyard cooks will have the opportunity to put their recipes to the test during an upcoming Outdoor Chili Cook-Off benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Godfrey’s Ale House, 2513 Northgate Street in Ottumwa.
Teams can begin setting up at 8 a.m., with public chili serving getting underway at 11 a.m.
Organizers are looking for 15 or more teams to participate. Each team will be responsible for bringing its own cooking equipment, including a generator or crockpot, while organizers will provide the cooking space.
The cook-off will give local chili masters a chance to compete, showcase their favorite recipes and raise money for a worthwhile cause.

The community is invited to come out October 10, sample the chili and support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
