Tami Machelle Abel, 63, of Ottumwa died at 10:15 a.m. February 24, 2026 at Pella Comfort House surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
She was born August 29, 1962 in Fairfield to Jack Everett and Beverly Ann Bottger Abel.
Tami graduated from Pekin High school in 1980. She worked at River Hills Community Health Center for the last 16 years as a dental assistant and infection control and safety liaison.
Tami enjoyed doing crafts with her group of friends and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved her dogs and spending time at her friend’s pool. She especially loved spending time with her sons.
Surviving are her sons, Jarid Bailey and Jordan Bailey both of Ottumwa; brothers, Jeff Abel of Ollie and Mike (Nancy) Abel of Lancaster, KY; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Harley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Her body has been cremated and a time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
