An Ottumwa man faces multiple charges after police allegedly found drugs and explosive items at his residence.

48-year-old Kevin Guthrie was charged with explosive material or destructive devices with intent (Class C felony), intimidation with a dangerous weapon (Class C felony), and possession of methamphetamine – first offense (serious misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor), and third degree harassment (simple misdemeanor).

The Ottumwa Police Department says it executed a search warrant of Guthrie’s home on South Tacoma Avenue just before midnight on February 10th. Authorities allegedly found a clear plastic bag with 0.7 grams of methamphetamine.

Court records say police also found a bottle filled with flammable fluid and a rag sticking out of the bottle, also known as a Molotov cocktail, in a trash can in the backyard and evidence that another Molotov cocktail was thrown near the edge of the driveway. According to the criminal complaint, Guthrie admitted to throwing the cocktail but told authorities it never ignited.

Guthrie is also accused of firing an arrow at a residence. An occupant told law enforcement that she was present during the alleged incident.

Guthrie was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. His bond has been set at $100,000.
