Jefferson County Voters Head to Polls Tuesday for City and School Elections

Jefferson County residents will cast their ballots on Tuesday, November 4th, in the combined city and school election. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. across the county.

Last Day for Absentee Voting

Monday, November 3rd, is the final day for in-office absentee voting at the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office on the main floor of the courthouse at 51 East Briggs Avenue in Fairfield. The office is open until 4:30 p.m.

Polling Locations

Voters must cast their ballots at their designated precinct polling place. The voting locations are the same as regular presidential polling places.

Polling places for the November 4th election:

  • Blackhawk-Polk-Packwood: Packwood Fire Station, 112 N Main, Packwood
  • Buchanan: First United Methodist Church, 201 N Court, Fairfield
  • Center-Cedar-Round Prairie-Maharishi Vedic City: Jefferson County Ag Grounds Activity Building, 2606 W Burlington, Fairfield
  • Des Moines-Liberty-Libertyville: Libertyville Community Center, 110 N Main, Libertyville
  • Fairfield 1st Ward: Fairfield High School Auditorium Lobby, 605 E Broadway, Fairfield
  • Fairfield 2nd Ward: County Engineer’s Office, 901 N 8th St, Fairfield (Please note this temporary new location)
  • Fairfield 3rd Ward: Nazarene Family Center, 507 W Briggs Ave, Fairfield
  • Fairfield 4th Ward: Jefferson County Courthouse Lobby, 51 E Briggs Ave, Fairfield
  • Fairfield 5th Ward: Pence School Building, 1006 S 6th St, Fairfield
  • Lockridge-City of Lockridge: Lockridge School, 103 S Center, Lockridge
  • Locust Grove-Batavia: Batavia Community Center, 1006 3rd St, Batavia
  • Penn-Walnut-Pleasant Plain-Coppock: Pleasant Plain Community Center, 505 S St, Pleasant Plain

Voter Identification Requirements

Pre-registered voters must provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving a ballot. Acceptable forms of ID include an Iowa driver’s license, non-operator’s ID, passport, military ID, or voter ID card.

Voters who are not pre-registered or are changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. Voters unable to provide proper identification may:

  1. Have their identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct
  2. Prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents
  3. Cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10th, 2025

Accessible Voting

Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote from their vehicle. Poll workers can bring a ballot to voters in their cars.

Sample ballots for all precincts are available on the Jefferson County website Elections – Jefferson County Iowa Government, allowing voters to review the candidates and public measures before heading to the polls.
