An Iowa State Patrol trooper stopped a driver south of Fort Dodge after she sped past an ambulance—lights flashing—at more than 130 miles per hour.

According to law enforcement, the driver claimed she was “too tired to notice her speed.” Authorities say the incident could have ended in disaster, especially with emergency responders actively working in the area.

Trooper Davenport, who made the stop, emphasized the risk to not only the driver but also first responders and others on the road. Driving while drowsy is dangerous enough—pairing that with extreme speed puts lives at serious risk.

No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation. Authorities urge all drivers to stay alert, obey posted speed limits, and always yield to emergency vehicles.
