A Cedar Falls woman is accused of shooting her husband earlier this week.
On Wednesday evening Cedar Falls Police Department was called to 4317 Newland Drive, Cedar Falls for a report of a domestic report.
Police found David Charlton, 72, Dead.
According to a criminal complaint, Kimberly Charlton stated David Charlton attempted to physically assault. The family dog stopped the assault.
The report also stated David Charlton left the room, re- entered with a walking cane threatening to hit the dog. As he was walking out of the room Kimberly Charlton retrieved a gun. Kimberly Charlton told the victim she was going to shoot him if he didn’t leave the dog alone. Kimberly Charlton admitted shooting David Charlton in the back.
Kimberly Charlton is being charged with First degree murder (Class D Felony).
If convicted Charlton is facing a automatic life sentence.
