Joshua James Owen, 53, of Henderson, Colo., formerly of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Feb. 21, 2025.
He was born Dec. 17, 1971 in Peru, Ill. to Marty and Jill Owen. He attended Davis County High School and graduated with the class of 1990 and then went on to the University of Northern Iowa graduating with a degree in communications.
After graduating from college, Joshua followed his dream of working in the movie industry and moved to Hollywood, Calif. after receiving an internship with a production company. He worked on several movie productions, including “Bowfinger,” “Monkey Bone,” “X Files,” and “Rockstar” to name a few.
After two years in California he moved to Colorado where his next dream of becoming a father came to life. He loved his daughter Harper beyond measure, and was always beaming with joy and light in her presence. He especially enjoyed their Saturday adventures.
He loved his family and friends with all his heart and looked at every day as a “gift,” especially after his kidney transplant. He was thankful for each day and every one of them he got, clear up to the end. He also loved his dachshunds, Fozzie, Meeko, and Linus.
He will be long remembered as a movie aficionado and as “Jhed88” by many that knew him.
Surviving are his daughter, Harper of Colo.; his parents, Marty and Jill Owen of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two brothers, Jeff (Toni) Owen of Altoona and Jeremy (Trish) Owen of Dallas Center; niece, Alexa (Jarrod) Swallow, and nephews Austin, Tristin, Graham, and Jack Owen; great niece, Hazel; and great-nephew, Hayden Swallow; aunts; uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
