Alan Jay Wilson, age 71, of Moravia passed away on March 14, 2025 in his home.
He was born on September 27, 1953, in Centerville, IA, the first son of Jay and Lois Wilson. Alan graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1971. In 1977 he married Viki Wilson to which four children were born. In 1982, he moved to Colorado Springs, CO for a few years before returning to his hometown of Moravia. Alan was a hardworking man who devoted his time to farming and his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and filling them full of Pepsi and gummy bears. There wasn’t a family function, he didn’t have a bag of candy to give to the kids. He also loved teasing those around him. His teasing often resulted in children upset and him chuckling his signature laugh. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads and mushrooms, fishing, and collecting old guns. He also enjoyed gardening. Through gardening and farming, he taught his children a hard work ethic that has benefitted them throughout their lives.
Alan is survived by his children, Michelle Thornbrugh, Wesley Wilson, Julie (James) Pitzl, and Ryan Wilson; grandchildren, Baylie Thornbrugh, Kaydence Thornbrugh, Hunter Pitzl, Ellie Pitzl, Ava Pitzl, and Jack Pitzl; and a great grandchild, Henzley Thornbrugh; three siblings Marcia Zapitul, Linda Ware and Richard Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Lois Wilson.
