A wanted Ottumwa man faces more charges after allegedly having numerous drugs in his possession when officers encountered him.
49-year-old James Wilmot was charged with attaching a used or expired drug tax stamp (Class D felony), three counts of possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense (Class D felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).
On September 25 shortly after 5:01 PM, court records say officers from the Ottumwa Police Department arrested Wilmot on a warrant for failure to appear.
When Wilmot was searched, court documents say officers found 18 Oxycodone pills, 20 pills labeled as Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, and 26 pills identified as Tramadol. Police say Wilmot admitted to not having a prescription for any of the pills.
Additionally, officers allegedly found 0.3 grams of methamphetamine, a medium craft-sized zipper-top plastic baggy with a substance later identified as heroin, and a cut straw with residue in Wilmot’s possession.
Wilmot was transported to the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
