Two males, one of them a juvenile, face charges after attempting to burglarize vehicles. The minor allegedly assaulted an officer, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
18-year-old Mason McKenzie of Mount Pleasant was charged with three counts of attempted vehicle burglary, possession of burglar tools, all class D felonies, and a citation for possession of tobacco product by person under 21 years of age.
A juvenile male of Columbus Junction was charged with three counts of attempted vehicle burglary, a class D felony, 4th degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor, interference with official acts causing bodily injury.
On September 5 at 12:14 a.m, the Mount Pleasant Police Department says officers responded to the Colonial Apartments on 115 East Monroe Street. Officers say two male subjects were located after attempting to enter multiple vehicles. The subjects were identified by a witness.
McKenzie was transported to the Henry County Jail. He has an active arrest warrant for theft in Burlington.
The juvenile was taken to the Mount Pleasant Police Department. He allegedly destroyed an estimated $600 of property at the station and assaulted an officer. The minor was transported to Juvenile Detention in Montrose.
