Vera Lois DesPlanque, born in the heart of Hamilton, Iowa to Harry Keith and Leah Mary (Matton) Morgan on January 28, 1929, lived a life filled with humility, loyalty, and an abundance of laughter. Known to all as Vera, she was a beacon of courage, navigating her life journey with unwavering strength. Vera’s journey on this Earth came to an end on August 7, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Vera’s life was a testament to the strength of her character, as she was a loving homemaker, creating a warm, inviting home for her loved ones. She was a master of her craft, knitting love into every quilt she made and baking bread that nourished both the body and the soul. Vera’s love for flower gardening was as radiant as the bloom of a sunflower, her favorite. She was a steadfast pillar in her family’s life, spending quality time was her way of nurturing her family. Vera’s laughter was a symphony that played in the background of their lives, a melody that will continue to echo in the hearts of her loved ones.
Vera was a woman of remarkable courage, facing the challenges of life with a calm demeanor and a light heart. Her loyalty to her family and friends was an embodiment of her strong, loving spirit. Her humble nature and her funny anecdotes made her a joy to be around, filling the room with warmth and laughter. Vera was a woman of substance, a woman who believed in the importance of family above all else.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Morgan of Bussey, Laura (Steve) Davis of Hamilton, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Keith and Leah Mary Morgan; husband, Marceau DesPlanque; children, Marlene Crady, Linda Dobbs, David DesPlanque; siblings, Lloyd Morgan, Kenneth Morgan, and Marjorie McMurray.
Vera’s life will be celebrated and remembered during visitation on Monday, 12 Aug 2024 from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Sinnott Funeral Home, Gilbert Chapel in Lovilia. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 13 Aug 2024 at 10:30 am at the same location. Memorials have been established to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
