Tonight during the Keosauqua City Council Meeting, a presentation was given about GIS Mapping for city utilities. A plan was laid out to map and inventory the city water systems and infrastructure. The benefits of the proposal include a much more accurate map of existing pipes, water mains, valves, and sewer systems. This would be very beneficial for complying with One Calls, along with troubleshooting water main breaks or busted pipes.
The city Council approved the plan, with an estimated (up to) $14,200 cost and an annual $200 fee for software licensing.
Some other items the council members discussed included building permits, reports on bills, finance, and city hall repairs, as well as the topic of memorial benches.
