An intoxicated Ottumwa man, who has his license revoked, allegedly fled from a hit and run with an individual protected under a no contact order as his passenger.
44-year-old Patrick Weaver was charged with violation of no contact order, possession of drug paraphernalia, drunk driver revocation, OWI – 2nd offense.
On August 29 at 7:30 p.m, court records say Weaver was reported for a hit and run on Point Isabelle Road. According to officers, Weaver was driving on a revoked license.
Authorities say Weaver was showing signs of impairment and he admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. Officers offered Weaver a Standardized Field Sobriety Test which showed his impairment and he refused to take a breath test.
Court records say Weaver has a prior OWI conviction dating December 2013.
During the arrest, officers observed the passenger in the vehicle had a filed no contact order.
Authorities say a probable cause search was conducted. A glass pipe with residue of marijuana within arms reach of Weaver was found.
Weaver was taken to the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
