Early Week Excessive Heat in Ottumwa

The extreme heat that descended on southeast Iowa on Sunday will continue through the early parts of this week according to the National Weather Service.

A heat advisory has been issued from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday. Monday’s high temperature will be in the high 90s and heat index values are expected to approach 110 degrees.

The National Weather Service recommends you drink plenty of fluids, limit outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening, stay in air-conditioned areas, and check on neighbors and relatives.

The National Weather Service anticipates temperatures to cool down mid-week. Wednesday’s high is forecasted to be in the high 80s. A chance of rain is expected on Thursday.
