An Ottumwa man faces charges after allegedly punching an individual and refusing to comply with officers.
29-year-old Cody Surber was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts, assault causing bodily injury, and public intoxication.
On August 22 at 9:46 p.m, court records say Surber was a guest at the victim’s house and punched the victim in the face. Authorities say Surber fled the residence after the incident and was located on Harrod Avenue and Davis Street. Officials observed Surber profusely sweating, making delusional statements, and rapidly fidgeting his hands, legs, and feet. According to officers, Surber ignored commands and continued to walk away.
During the arrest, official personnel searched Surber’s backpack and found two glass drug pipes containing methamphetamine.
Surber was taken to the Wapello County Jail. His bond is $1,000.
