A convicted Ottumwa woman attempted to return items she didn’t pay for at Walmart.
28-year-old Briana Wilkins was charged with 3rd degree theft – enhanced b/c two prior convictions – property not exceeding $750, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On August 13 at 6:34 p.m, court records say Wilkins trespassed into Walmart on 1940 Venture Drive. Official personnel say Wilkins was grabbing items from shelves and attempted to return them at the service counter. Wilkins wanted the currency to be placed on a gift card so she could purchase other items.
During the arrest, law enforcement conducted a search and located a used syringe and a piece of aluminum foil with a burn mark in her purse. Wilkins admitted to Officials that the items were being used for illegal narcotics.
According to court records, Wilkins has previous theft convictions dating December 2020, May 2023, and two dated June 2024.
Wilkins was taken to the Wapello County Jail. She was released with promise to appear.
