Ottumwa, IA – At approximately 7:48 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, the Ottumwa Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 320 North Holt Street. Upon arrival, the one story house had heavy smoke coming out of the front door with fire coming out of the front and one side.
Two occupants came out of the structure when crews arrived and were seen by paramedics for treatment. A third person had been present earlier, but later showed up on scene unharmed. A primary and secondary search was performed and no other people were found. The two occupants that came out upon arrival were taken to the hospital for treatment.
A dog was also found at the scene and is doing well. Utilities have been called to disconnect services to the structure. This fire remains under investigation.
