Brostrom Receives Main Street Iowa Leadership Award


Main Street Iowa hosted the annual Main Street Iowa Development Awards Celebration in Des Moines, Iowa on April 19, 2024. This program honors local leaders who give extraordinary effort in revitalizing Iowa’s downtowns and Main Street Districts.  

Long-time Oskaloosa Resident, Beth Brostrom, received the Main Street Iowa Leadership Award for her dedication to Main Street Revitalization by enhancing Economic Development in Oskaloosa and the State of Iowa.  

Debi Durham, executive director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), and Michael Wagler, Main Street Iowa state coordinator, present the honors to nominated leaders.  

“The Main Street Iowa program stands as one of the nation’s most distinguished, as witnessed from the award-winning projects in rehabilitation, business recruitment and support, façade improvement, housing, placemaking, and special events,” said Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Director Debi Durham. “It’s evident that Main Street Iowa communities thrive under passionate leadership, achieving remarkable success.” 

As Oskaloosa Main Street’s Volunteer of the Year, Brostrom is recognized for her tireless leadership in downtown Oskaloosa. Over the years she has demonstrated her commitment to the community by serving as the Chair of the Economic Vitality Committee. She has led Main Street Oskaloosa events such as Art on the Square, the Holiday Luncheon, and many more. Brostrom was instrumental in bringing together women-owned downtown boutique owners to host a local style show at the Main Street’s Holiday Luncheon, this past December.
