The city of Fairfield received a REAP Open Spaces Grant through the Iowa DNR to continue habitat restoration work at Pleasant Lake.

With the assistance of this grant, the city will remove invasive species, construct a small brush pile for wildlife, conduct a prescribed burn, and plant more native trees. After these objectives are met, the city will then create an addition to the existing boat dock with a canoe and kayak launch.

The city of Fairfield has also secured the Water Recreation Access Cost-Share Grant which it will use to extend and gravel the boat ramp and entrance drive at Pleasant Lake. This project was funded by the Water Recreation Access Cost-Share through the Iowa DNR and the Fairfield Park and Recreation.

Work began on February 20 and trail users may encounter temporary trail closure signs which will only be up while the contractor is in the area.
