Centerville, IA – Saturday January 6th at approximately 9:47am firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 900 block of E State St. in Centerville. The firefighter arriving first advised of visible smoke and flames from the rear and side of the house. Firefighters began and offensive fire attack, entering the structure in an attempt to extinguish the fire. Firefighters also performed a search of the house to ensure there were no occupants.
There was extensive damage to the rear of the house and part of the attic as well. Firefighters were able to access the attic from inside as well as cutting holes on the roof.
There were no injuries associated with this incident and crews cleared the scene to begin cleaning of equipment. Thank you to Mystic Volunteer Fire Department and Centerville Police Department for their assistance! The cause of the fire is under investigation.
