Henry Milton “Bud” Shepherd, 66, of Ottumwa, died August 3, 2023 at his home.
He was born November 6, 1956 in Ottumwa to Clarence H. and Velma Gard Shepherd. He married Valerie J. Daugherty December 2, 1977 and she preceded him in death August 6, 2021.
A resident of Ottumwa all of his life, Bud worked pouring concrete his entire career. He had worked for Chickering Foundations, Gardner Concrete, Harry Nicholson and at Cargill and IHCC.
Bud enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle and loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Surviving are his sons, Chris Shepherd and Mark Shepherd, both of Ottumwa; 2 granddaughters, Ellie and Avalee; sister, Diana (John) Sandegren of Ottumwa; 2 nephews, Eric and Jacob; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike Daugherty and Terri Young and their families; several cousins including Tom Shepherd; a life-long friend, Ehret; and his dog, Zeake.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 11th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hendred officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Working Man’s Christmas Party for Needy Kids.
