Iowa DCI to Investigate Officer-Related Shooting in Bloomfield

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into an officer-related shooting that occurred Wednesday night in Bloomfield.

According to a press release from the Bloomfield Police Department, an officer pulled over a vehicle that was driving erratically. During the traffic stop, an individual who was not in the vehicle at the time of the stop arrived at the scene.

The department says the officer discharged his weapon during the stop which struck one subject. The wounded was provided medical aid and treated at a hospital. Additionally, the officer was treated and released at the hospital after suffering injuries in the incident.

The officer has been placed on paid critical leave pending the investigation by the Iowa DCI. The incident remains under investigation. The Bloomfield Police Department says it does not have any additional information. Further details may be shared by the Iowa DCI at a later time.
