The Newton Fire Department will gather with members of the community next month to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks.
A remembrance ceremony is scheduled for Friday, September 11, at 5:30 p.m. outside the Newton Fire Department. The event will provide an opportunity for residents and first responders to reflect on the lives lost and the lasting impact of that day.
The ceremony will recognize the nearly 3,000 people who died in the attacks, including the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the World Trade Center. Other emergency personnel who lost their lives will also be remembered.
For the fire service, the events of September 11 continue to serve as a powerful reminder of the risks first responders face and the importance of service to others. The ceremony will highlight the courage, selflessness and dedication demonstrated by those who answered the call that day.
Newton residents are invited to attend the ceremony and join local firefighters in honoring the victims, first responders and families whose lives were forever changed.
