Legislation to delist the gray wolf from the Endangered Species List remains stalled in the U.S. Senate.
Northern Minnesota rancher Miles Kuschel says the Pet and Livestock Protection Act has cleared the House.
“And it’s currently trying to get on the Floor in the Senate, so I’d call and urge all your senators to really work on getting Senate File 1306 passed.”
He tells Brownfield efforts to federally de-list the wolf have derailed in the courts.
“And that’s really been the challenge because if we’re going to move a bill forward we want to make sure there’s no back and forth that there has been in the past, so 1306 would actually end that. If that passes the Floor it resumes back to state control and more local control, so therefore everyone in their own state would have the options to do what they need to do to manage the gray wolf.”
The bill was received by the Senate in late 2025 and referred to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, where it currently sits.
